Star of Light

This was a picture my mother gave me the idea to do, and I'm glad she did. This is a scene from a book I am writing called Petals of Zarembia. Pen and ink again.

Follow the woods heavy with trees
Walking the eastern forests afar
Look not up but down at your feet
In day’s true light you will see the star
Cast down from bright beams of sunlight
The entwined branches up high
Form the pattern you seek
On the moss that does not die
Down below the grass
Is the petal that has no shoot
Found in its long slumber deep down
Where the plants make their root
